Our History

I learnt to cook while watching my mum make magic in our tiny kitchen in Lenasia, Johannesburg. I banged and clanged fresh ginger & garlic in mum's brass mortar & pestle. Mum, without any recipe, blended aromatic masalas for the traditional Sunday mutton & potato curry. There's a saying used to describe good cooks: "It's all in the hand." Indeed!

Our Philosophy

Food is an allegory, a poem. Old memories float on the scents of a soup, a herb a vibrant colour or bitter sweet taste. It has the power to create community, to heal and to transform.
